Learning to Fly: An Arm Balance Workshop

Why do we practice arm balances?

Arm balances help us to build strength and develop more balance. They are challenging and are often seen as the benchmark of an advanced yoga practice. However, a truly advanced practice is when we embrace and incorporate the teachings of yoga around being more focused and steadier in our minds. Playing with arm balances creates a space for us to practice staying calm and connected to our breath within the challenge.

We will work with a sense of playfulness so that our effort and discipline is balanced with ease and surrender.

In this workshop we will break down and practice four arm balances:

Crow Pose (Bakasana)

Flying Splits (Eka Pada Koundinyasana II)

Side Crow (Parsva Bakasana)

Eight Angle Pose (Astavakrasana)

Our time together will include a vinyasa practice to prepare our bodies, arm balance pose breakdown, and a restorative yoga Nidra to bring us back into balance.

Please bring a water bottle and small towel.

Check back for future dates.
